99 Nights in the Forest is one of Roblox’s most fun and challenging games. It requires skills, quick thinking, and the right amount of decision-making.
Besides the decisions you make in-game, you also have to make the right call in the class you choose, even before creating a lobby. These classes are important because they dictate how you approach a game from early to late.
So without much delay, let’s get started.
What are Classes in 99 Nights in the Forest
Classes are traits or abilities which contribute to the overall player experience in 99 Nights in the Forest. There are 28 classes currently in the game, and each class has its unique perks and starting items.
Every class comes with a total of 3 perks, and there is even an option to roll for a 4th perk, but that will cost you 60 diamonds. This 4th perk is a completely random perk from the 81 other perks in the game, so odds are it could be good or bad.
How to Unlock Classes in 99 Nights in the Forest
You can unlock a class by purchasing it from the class shop in the game lobby. The cost of each class can range from 10 to as high as 600 diamonds.

All Classes Explained
There are a total of 5 tiers classes in 99 Nights in the Forest. The higher the tier, the more unique perks and starter items you get.
This doesn’t necessarily mean the 5th tier has the best classes, it just means it has the most unique perks and or items. So let’s take a look at each of these classes, and talk about what makes them so special.
1. Camper

The camper is by far the cheapest class in the game, and probably a decent first choice for newbies. However, I wouldn’t advise getting this class because the perks and starter tools are actually very easy to get.
Here are the perks for this class:
- Level 1 Perk: 10% reduced hunger drain
- Level 2 Perk: Increased Nighttime visibility
- Level 3 Perk: Spawn with a Stew
2. Scavenger

The Scavenger class is a tier 2 class, and probably one I would recommend for players who like exploring in the early game. Although, it definitely isn’t that great either because you don’t get a starter item (which is weird), but for the price, it is a decent start to have.
Before I explain this class further, here are the perks:
- Level 1 Perk: 2 sack space.
- Level 2 Perk: Open chests 20% faster.
- Level 3 Perk: Chance to get scrap as a bonus item from chests.
From the perks, it should be obvious that this class relies on a player’s ability to explore and bring back more materials than any other class. So if you are an expert in finding materials, and escaping the wildlife in game, then this class is a decent start for you.
3. Base Defender

As the name suggests, this class is for players who enjoy creating a safe haven for themselves and others. Your duty as a base defender is to make the lives of every Cultist raider miserable when they try to enter your camp.
These are the perks you can get in this class:
- Level 1 Perk: Starts with 2 defense blueprints
- Level 2 Perk: Defenses can be upgraded/upgraded durability
- Level 3 Perk: Defenses you place deal higher damage
If you do decide to get this class, here is a useful tip. Ensure your traps are set in a way that you or your team can easily bait Cultist into entering them.
Having a setup like that can either weaken or kill the cultists without putting anyone in harm’s way.
4. Cook

This class is by far one of the tastiest out there (no pun intended). The food a cook makes can restore more hunger, and this can be useful especially when exploring.
Here are the perks:
- Level 1 Perk: Seasoned food restores more hunger
- Level 2 Perk: The Crockpot cooks 20% faster
- Level 3 Perk: 25% chance to make a Hearty Stew
For the record, only the Cook and Chef can make seasoned food, and a seasoned food. While a Hearty Stew restores half of your hunger, heals for 15 health, and warms you up in cold weather.
5. Decorator

The decorator’s main goal is to ensure the camp looks aesthetically pleasing. While having a pretty camp is okay, this class does not contribute in any way to overall survivability.
- Level 1 Perk: Furniture trader offers +1 item per visit
- Level 2 Perk: Furniture trader is always visible on the map when visiting
- Level 3 Perk: Furniture is discounted by 25%
6. Fisherman

The Fisherman truly lives up to his name and is an expert at fishing. But besides baiting out fish, he doesn’t bring any other benefits to himself or the team.
- Level 1 Perk: Your fishing rods level up faster
- Level 2 Perk: Fishing rod casts are instant and further
- Level 3 Perk: Fish hook onto your fishing rod faster
However, if you do enjoy the peace that comes with fishing, then consider having this class as your main.
7. Hunter

This class on paper is actually decent. But when you do the maths, there really isn’t anything special about it.
- Level 1 Perk: Increased meat drop-rate
- Level 2 Perk: Slightly higher pelt drop-rate
- Level 3 Perk: The pelt trader will offer an extra wolf pelt trade
The bear trap isn’t that useful, and the meat drop rates don’t even matter considering the amount of wildlife in the game.
8. Medic

The medic is an exceptionally good team player, and the keyword there is Team Player. Which means if you plan on going solo, then this class ain’t for you.
- Level 1 Perk: 5x faster revives
- Level 2 Perk: Improved revive on others, restores more health and hunger
- Level 3 Perk: One of your bandages upgrades to a Medkit
9. Support

Yet another great team player in the game. Similar to the Medic class, if you plan on going solo, then this class will be very useless.
- Level 1 Perk: Bond with another player at the start of the game, absorb some damage for the player, and deal more damage when closer together
- Level 2 Perk: Your support eats for both of you 80/20
- Level 3 Perk: You can see the beam to your player at any distance
10. Lumberjack

This is another really good class, but only if you plan on spending at least 80% of the game chopping wood.
- Level 1 Perk: 20% chance to get 1 bonus log from trees
- Level 2 Perk: 25% chance for a double sapling drop
- Level 3 Perk: 20% chance to get 1 or 2 bonus logs from trees
11. Ranger

In all honesty, I don’t really consider the Ranger a good enough class for the price. It just feels like everything about it is actually easy to get, even in the early stages of the game.
Anyway, here are the perks:
- Level 1 Perk: Start with 18 ammo
- Level 2 Perk: 10% chance to refund ammo on shot
- Level 3 Perk: Start with 30 ammo
12. Zookeeper

This class was added during the Taming update, and it is yet again another disappointing class for the price. None of the perks feel exceptionally useful, and every other class can tame animals regardless.
- Level 1 Perk: Your taming whistle levels faster
- Level 2 Perk: Feeding tamed animals restores more of their health
- Level 3 Perk: You can tame animals faster with the flute
13. Undead

If you find it hard to stay alive, then this class is for you.
- Level 1 Perk: Gain a permanent bonus every time you are revived
- Level 2 Perk: You can be revived instantly
- Level 3 Perk: You can move for 8 seconds after death
All I will say is, ensure you die as many times as needed. Sure your teammates might flame you, but the bonuses you get are worth it.
14. Gambler

As the name suggests, you play the game hoping for the best and expecting the worst. Is this class worth it, sure if lady luck is on your side.
- Level 1 Perk: 50/50 chance of upgrading/downgrading standard chests on opening
- Level 2 Perk: 60/40 chance of upgrading/downgrading standard chests on opening
- Level 3 Perk: 10% chance for chests to also drop coins
15. Farmer

While this class isn’t exactly the most useful in the early stages, he starts to shine later on when his rare crops are needed. One of such scenarios is the taming of a Mammoth.
- Level 1 Perk: Use the watering can to get rarer crops from farm plots
- Level 2 Perk: Some saplings you plant will grow into apple trees
- Level 3 Perk: Farm plots you water are guaranteed to grow 1 pumpkin
16. Alien

This is one of the best classes in the game when it comes down to survivability. The ray gun deals a lot of damage, and its perks are all very useful from early to much later on in the game.
- Level 1 Perk: Excellent visibility at night and sprint slower when alien tech is overheating
- Level 2 Perk: Alien tech recharges faster
- Level 3 Perk: Sprint faster when alien tech is at full charge
17. Beserker

If your play style revolves around mad aggression, then consider getting this class. The perks are really good, and you can stand your ground against multiple enemies.
- Level 1 Perk: After first death, auto-revive with low HP and hunger
- Level 2 Perk: On reviving, receive a strength boost for a short duration
- Level 3 Perk: Deal higher damage as your HP gets lower
18. Brawler

This class is definitely an acquired taste and the play style has to fit yours. It is all about close range combat meaning, you have to constantly close in the gap especially against ranged foes.
- Level 1 Perk: Can’t use ranged weapons, +40% HP, and +30% more damage with melee weapons
- Level 2 Perk: 10% health regeneration, regenerates sooner after taking damage
- Level 3 Perk: 5% chance to block incoming damage
19. Firebandit

This class is the Firebender of 99 Nights in the Forest. Its fire deals damage over time to enemies, and it is also aesthetically pleasing to watch.
- Level 1 Perk: Start with an Infernal Crossbow and a Wildfire potion
- Level 2 Perk: Your other tools have a chance to set enemies on fire
- Level 3 Perk: 10% chance to get wildfire as a bonus drop from chests
20. Beastmaster

Just like the Zookeeper, this class is an expert at taming animals. But unlike the Zookeeper, it is actually very powerful.
- Level 1 Perk:
- You can summon tamed wolves with 3 steaks
- You start with 3 steaks
- You can have up to 5 pets
- Level 2 Perk: Your wolves run much faster when attacking
- Level 3 Perk: The first wolf you summon will be an alpha wolf
It is one of those classes that can be Goated, if you know how to use it properly.
21. Chef

This is basically an improved version of the cook, so if you liked that class, then you will love this one.
- Level 1 Perk: Can cook new unique recipes that give players huge bonuses
- Level 2 Perk: All cooked items are seasoned
- Level 3 Perk: Unlock new recipes
22. Blacksmith

I consider this class as yet another great, but underrated class. The aim of this game is to survive, and to survive you need to craft useful tools, and he is an expert at that.
- Level 1 Perk: You can craft items in the next crafting bench tier (up to tier 4)
- Level 2 Perk: 2 random crafting bench recipes will have discounts
- Level 3 Perk: Chance to get extra scrap from items you put in the grinder
This class ensures you can craft more items, and even unlocks higher tier items without needing to upgrade your crafting table.
23. Poison Master

Much like the Firebandit, the class deals damage over time, and even spreads that damage to nearby enemies when the target dies.
- Level 1 Perk: Your poison effects are stronger
- Level 2 Perk: 25% chance for enemies to spread their poison on death
- Level 3 Perk: Attacks deal increased damage to poisoned enemies
24. Assassin

The Assassin is a must have class, and it is probably the best tier 5 class in game. You also start with a cool Katana(similar damage with the Spear), and a lot of throwing knives.
- Level 1 Perk: 10% sprint speed, -15% HP, and 5% chance for Throwing Knives to spawn in chests
- Level 2 Perk: First hit on an enemy has a chance to critically strike
- Level 3 Perk: 10% chance for Throwing Knives to spawn in chests
25. Cyborg

This class is very similar to the Alien class, but with better perks and starter tools.
- Level 1 Perk: If alien tech overheats, you take damage and your armor is temporarily lowered, and excellent visibility at night
- Level 2 Perk: Alien tech deals increased damage
- Level 3 Perk: Kills restore some alien tech energy
By the way, that laser cannon packs a heavy punch.
26. Pyromaniac

This is one of the best Mid to late game classes, and you start to see its full potential once you have crafted an Oil Drill. That is basically unlimited ammo for you.
- Level 1 Perk: Reload your flamethrower with fuel canisters and oil barrels, and food is auto-cooked on drop
- Level 2 Perk: Fuel canisters and oil barrels restore even more fuel
- Level 3 Perk: You move faster for every burning enemy
27. Big Game Hunter

This class definitely has a lot of potential, and with perks like this no wonder it costs so much.
- Level 1 Perk: Can consume animal pelts to gain permanent bonuses
- Level 2 Perk: Higher pelt drop rate
- Level 3 Perk: You can infinitely consume mammoth tusks to permanently gain health
28. Necromancer

Now this class might seem complicated but it really isn’t. You basically collect the souls of dead cultists and use it to resurrect them under your control.
Think of it like the Beastmaster, but with zombie Cultists instead of Wolves.
- Level 1 Perk:
- You collect souls from dead cultists
- Use your staff to consume souls and resurrect cultists
- You can have up to 6 summons
- Level 2 Perk: Resurrected cultists deal greater damage
- Level 3 Perk: You get better night vision the more cultists you have
Final Thoughts
To make the right decision on which class to purchase depends on the kind of player you are. While some classes require passive gameplay, others require a player to either be aggressive, or explore more of the map.
However, one thing to always remember is, the cost of a class doesn’t dictate how good or bad it is. The important thing is, you have fun playing it.
