How to Tame a Bear in 99 Nights in the Forest

Taming a Bear in 99 Nights in the Forest gives you a powerful ally that can tank damage and fight alongside you deep into your run.

Bears are tougher to tame than basic animals, so you’ll need the right flute level, enough food, and a bit of patience during the taming minigame.

How to Tame a Bear in 99 Nights in the Forest

Step 1: Get a Strong Flute

To tame a Bear, you need a Strong Taming Flute. If you haven’t unlocked it yet, focus on taming smaller animals like Wolves, Scorpions, and Arctic Foxes first.

StrongFlute

Each successful tame fills your flute XP bar. Once it’s full, head to the Upgrade Building near your camp to level up your flute.

The Strong Flute is required for taming mid to late-game animals like Bears, Polar Bears, Mammoths, and Hellephants.

Step 2: Play the Taming Minigame

Approach the Bear and step into the green circle to trigger the taming minigame. Keep the red line inside the highlighted green area until the taming bar fills up.

Bears are aggressive, so expect multiple attempts before calming it completely. Having the Zookeeper class makes this step a bit easier.

Keep bandages ready in case the Bear lands hits during failed attempts.

Step 3: Feed the Bear

Once calmed, the Bear will demand a specific combination of food items. For each tame, you’ll need:

The Bear requires 5 successful tames to be fully domesticated. That means you’ll need a total of:

  • Pumpkin x5

Feed the items after each successful flute attempt to complete the taming process.
