What is the Fisch Fright Update

The Fisch fright update is a Halloween themed patch which was released on October 18th.

This patch brings a bunch of new experiences, and reintroduces some old but improved fan Favorites as well.

Besides the update to gameplay and player experience, there were also some bug fixes and buffs to some rods. Likewise, during the Admin abuse, we also got hints of possible and future entries as well.

So buckle up, because we have a lot to cover, on this Update, and we will take them one at a time.

Everything in the Fisch Fright Update

Here is a run through everything new in this Update:

1. Crook’s Hallow

This is the newest location in the Fisch map, and it contains a great deal of Halloween themed events and characters.

There 2 ways to reach this location:

  • Teleport using the Flying Dutch man
  • Teleport using the Frightful Mirror

Crook’s Hallow in the long run will be a general center of attraction because of how relevant the events are. Not only do you get the returning Beatrix the Witch event, there are also scores of other equally rewarding quests as well.

Moreover, after careful exploration, I also ran into Pete, a character who feels slightly hidden compared to others.

So take your time and explore this new location, and you might find some amazing things.

2. Color Specific Frightful Pools

This patch also introduces color specific frightful pools which is an opportunity for players to get specific types of fish.

Given that the colors of these pools now depend on the rarity of fish available, we can take this as a quality of life improvement. Considering that players can now easily decide on how important the pools are.

So, if you are a new player, I would say aim for the Green pools to level up quickly.

3. New Trick or Treat Mechanic

With the Halloween season underway, it is no real surprise that Trick or Treat would be on the menu in this Update. Much like its real life counterpart, this mechanic allows players to collect candy and trade them later on.

You also have the opportunity to collect unique fishes as well in the process.

4. Flying Dutchman Merchant

Besides the actual Flying Dutchman Ship, there is the Flying Dutchman Merchant. After collecting enough candies, players can exchange these candies with the Merchant for amazing rewards.

Moreover we also got the Flying Dutchman Ship, which is located mostly in Moosewood. Just like its real life adaptation, it is a darkish ship with green shades and green sails.

Interestingly, there is a little easter egg feature that occurs when players knock on the captain’s cabin. Doing so turns you into a wraith, temporarily giving you the ability to fly and float before returning back to normal.

5. Beatrix the Witch

The Famous witch Beatrix makes her return and she comes with new quests. Once again she requires you to retrieve the ingredients needed to complete whatever she has cooking in her Cauldron.

Beatrix can be found in Crook’s Hallow. All you have to do is bring the ingredients to her, hold it and put it in her Cauldron.

After putting an ingredient, you are immediately given a reward. By my Calculations, there are a total of 4 ingredients you have to retrieve for Beatrix.

6. Goblins

Goblins are yet another themed addition in this Fright Update. They periodically spawn in different locations and remain there until their task is complete.

These Goblins are very important because each Goblin has a piece of Beatrix’s ingredient. And all they want in exchange for these ingredients is a simple task.

So far I have only been able to do two, and they felt easy enough but also very unnecessary and somewhat funny, to the Goblin at least.

One Goblin wanted me to jump on 10 different platforms. While the other just wanted me to all chat the phrase “Goblins Rule!”, which like I said is unnecessary but funny, if you are a goblin.

In the end, you must do these tasks if you want to complete Beatrix’s event. I can’t wait to see what tasks the other goblins have for me.

7. Buffed Rods

In this update we got a total of two buffed rods, the Cinder Block Rod, and Rod of the Zenith. For the Cinder Block Rod, it got a 10% increase from -95% to -85%.

While the Rod of Zenith got a 5% buff to its lure speed and a +20 weight multiplier.

Overall, I feel these are decent buffs to both rods but are they actually good enough for everyday use? I guess you will have to wait till our next tier list for an answer to that question.

Final Thoughts

This patch truly feels like a breath of fresh air for every Fisch fan. There is a lot to pack in, from quest, events, and returning favorites.

The Nessie even made a return and I am sure the Devs scored some points with the community on that one. Regardless, my thoughts remain the same, the patch was definitely worth the wait.
