Get the Obsidiron Chest in 99 Nights in the Forest (Crafting Requirements)

The Obsidiron Chest is one of the rarest craftables introduced in the Meteor Shower event in 99 Nights in the Forest.

Unlocking it isn’t as simple as looting a crate, you’ll need to survive the meteor storm, gather special resources, and craft the chest at the Meteor Anvil.

In this guide, we’ll cover every step to help you unlock the Obsidiron Chest, including how to gather materials, refine Obsidiron Ingots, and craft the chest successfully.

What is the Obsidiron Chest?

The Obsidiron Chest is a special endgame chest that requires high-tier resources to craft.

It serves as both a flex item and a key part of progression, since it ties into advanced crafting recipes and unlocks exclusive loot.

Players who build the Obsidiron Chest also receive a new achievement, marking it as one of the game’s harder milestones.

How to Unlock the Obsidiron Chest

Step 1: Survive the Meteor Shower

  • The Meteor Shower event begins after Day 5 in the forest.

  • A global warning appears: “The sky is on fire.”

  • Meteors crash into the map, creating the Meteor Crater and unlocking the path to new crafting materials.

Step 2: Locate the Meteor Anvil

  • After the event, a red anvil icon will appear on your map.

  • Enter the anvil building, but be prepared, Meteor Crabs will spawn here. Defeat them first.

  • Inside, you’ll find anvil parts lying around. Pick them up and assemble them on the blueprint to restore the Meteor Anvil.

Step 3: Access the Craft Menu

  • Once assembled, interact with the Meteor Anvil (hold E).

  • Scroll through the list until you find the Obsidiron Chest blueprint.

  • Place the required resources on top of the anvil to begin crafting.

Crafting Requirements for Obsidiron Chest

To craft the chest, you’ll need three rare resources:

Material Quantity How to Get
Meteor Shards 10 Mined directly from fallen meteors in the Meteor Crater. Red crystal drops.
Gold Shards 5 Rare drops from meteor mining. Much lower drop rate than Meteor Shards.
Obsidiron Ingots 3 Created by refining Raw Obsidiron Ore through a special process.

How to Make Obsidiron Ingots

This is the trickiest part of the crafting process:

  1. Mine Meteors – Occasionally, instead of shards, you’ll get Raw Obsidiron Ore.

  2. Break the Ore – Toss the ore from a high elevation to split it into pieces.

  3. Scald It – Throw the broken ore into the lava inside the Meteor Crater. It will transform into a Scalding Obsidiron Ingot.

  4. Cool It – Take the hot ingot and drop it into a nearby pond or cold water source. This hardens it into a usable Obsidiron Ingot.

Repeat this process until you have 3 Ingots ready.

Final Step: Crafting the Obsidiron Chest

Bring 10 Meteor Shards, 5 Gold Shards, and 3 Obsidiron Ingots to the Meteor Anvil.

Place them onto the anvil’s surface when the Obsidiron Chest blueprint is selected.

Once crafted, the Obsidiron Chest will spawn in your inventory. Place it down to summon the chest and claim its loot.

Crafting the chest also unlocks the Obsidiron Chest Achievement.

Tips for Getting the Obsidiron Chest Faster

  • Farm Meteors Efficiently – Focus on mining multiple craters after each Meteor Shower; shards respawn quickly.

  • Bring Friends – The Meteor Crabs can be tough solo. Teaming up makes farming and anvil assembly smoother.

  • Stock Up on Water Sources – Keep note of ponds near the crater for quicker Obsidiron Ingot cooling.

  • Save Extra Ore – Always refine extra Obsidiron Ingots in case you need them for future recipes.

Final Thoughts

The Obsidiron Chest in 99 Nights in the Forest isn’t just another crafting recipe, it’s one of the most challenging achievements tied to the Meteor Shower event.

Between surviving waves of Meteor Crabs, farming rare shards, and refining Obsidiron Ingots, this chest takes serious effort.

But the payoff, exclusive loot, achievement unlocks, and bragging rights, makes it absolutely worth it.
