Grow a Garden Golden Acorn Guide – How to Unlock, Use, and Mutate Pets

In the Grow a Garden Fall Market update, the Golden Acorn is easily the most hyped gear of the season.

Unlike other gears, this one lets you mutate pets earlier than usual and without relying on the Mutation Station.

But with a steep price tag and some grind involved, many players are wondering if it’s worth it.

Let’s break down how to get and use the Golden Acorn in Grow a Garden.

How to Get the Golden Acorn in Grow a Garden

You can buy the Golden Acorn in the Fall Gear Shop for 10 Billion Sheckles. However, it won’t just appear right away – you need to unlock it.

Here’s what you need to do:

  • Contribute to the Fall Bloom event 12 times by submitting plants at the Fall Tree NPC.

  • Each activation of Fall Bloom requires 500 points worth of plants, so be ready to grind crops across rarities.

  • Once you’ve contributed 12 times, the Golden Acorn will be unlocked in the Fall Gear Shop.

Tip: The shop doesn’t restock automatically. You’ll need to manually trigger Fall Bloom again to refresh the shop inventory. If the Golden Acorn is out of stock, keep checking after each restock.

How to Use the Golden Acorn

Once unlocked and purchased, here’s how you can use the Golden Acorn:

  1. Equip the Golden Acorn from your backpack.

  2. Go near the pet you want to mutate.

    • Requirement: The pet must be Age 40 or higher.

  3. When the highlight appears, click to apply the Golden Acorn.

  4. The pet will reset back to Age 1 but gain a random mutation instantly.

This makes it easier than using the Pet Mutation Station, which requires pets to reach Age 50.

Is the Golden Acorn Worth It?

The Golden Acorn is powerful but comes with trade-offs:

Pros:

  • Mutates pets 10 levels earlier (Age 40 vs Age 50).
  • Grants a random mutation without using the Mutation Station.
  • Event-exclusive, so it has high prestige value.

Cons:

  • Extremely expensive (10 Billion Sheckles).
  • Single-use only.
  • Not always in stock, requiring multiple Fall Bloom activations.

If you’re looking to speedrun pet mutations or collect rare traits, the Golden Acorn is worth the grind.

But if you’re low on currency, the Pet Mutation Station may be the more practical choice.

Final Thoughts

The Golden Acorn is one of the best gears introduced in the Fall Market event, and while it’s expensive and grind-heavy, its unique effect makes it stand out.

If you’re aiming for rare mutations and want to flex your garden pets, this gear should be at the top of your shopping list.
