Ride A Pet Volcanic Egg Guide: Location and Escape Route

The Volcanic Egg in Ride A Pet is found beside the sleeping dragon in the Dragon’s Lair on Volcano Island. Reaching it is only part of the run: you also need to get the egg out and carry it home before its timers expire.

This guide covers the route, the mount you should prepare, and the mistakes that can cost you an egg. For a broader overview, see our Ride A Pet egg guide.

How to Reach the Volcanic Egg

  1. Equip your flying pet and travel to the Desert.
  2. Cross the water toward Volcano Island.
  3. Look for the small opening on the right side of the volcano.
  4. Follow the tunnels downward until you reach the sleeping dragon.
  5. Look beside the dragon for the egg, then prepare to leave immediately after collecting it.

Watch for the spawn announcement. The Tracker NPC can also help you check whether the egg is available. Do not spend an Eternal Radar expecting it to point into the volcano; our Ride A Pet radar guide covers the standard tracking options.

How the Two Escape Timers Work

Picking up the egg starts a 20-second escape timer inside the volcano. Once you leave, a second 20-second window gives you time to return to your ranch. Missing the return deadline breaks the egg. Watch for the dragon’s fireballs during the escape.

Before a serious attempt, make an empty-handed practice trip. Pay attention to the tunnel turns and the direction of your ranch from the exit. This turns the return journey into a route you already know, instead of a navigation problem you must solve under pressure.

What to Fix If Your Runs Keep Failing

  • Lost inside the volcano: practice the indoor route separately before collecting another egg.
  • Leaving successfully but missing home: plan the outdoor return path before the next attempt.
  • Struggling to move quickly: work on your mount first. Our pet food guide explains the available XP options.

A useful approach is to focus on one failed section at a time. A faster pet will not fix a wrong turn, while memorizing the tunnels will not solve a slow trip across the water.

Does the Volcanic Egg Always Hatch Griffin?

No. It is an egg to target when hunting Griffin, but collecting it does not promise that pet. Treat each successful delivery as another hatch attempt, and avoid spending resources on the assumption that your next result is guaranteed.
