Mutations in Grow a Garden Roblox are special effects that boost the value of your crops or enhance your pets’ abilities.

There are two main types:

  • Crop Mutations change the look of fruits and vegetables and multiply their sell price (from 2× to over 100×).

  • Pet Mutations are earned by placing a level 50+ pet into the Mutation Machine. These give pets new powers, like speeding up crop growth or applying mutations to nearby plants.

Crop mutations can happen randomly, during certain weather events (like a thunderstorm causing a Shocked mutation), or through tools like sprinklers and sprays.

For example, a tomato with the Golden mutation sells for 20× its normal value, and a Rainbow fruit can go for 50×.

Pet mutations don’t affect crops directly but make pets stronger, faster, or more helpful. Each pet can only have one mutation at a time, and getting one resets the pet to level 1.

Some crop mutations can stack, while others merge into new ones.

For instance, Wet + Sandy becomes Clay, and Verdant + Sundried turns into Paradisal. You can’t have both Golden and Rainbow on the same fruit.

The “How to Obtain” column explains how each mutation can appear. Many happen during certain weather like Wet in rain or Bloodlit during a Blood Moon. Others require special items or pets.

For example, Honey Glazed needs a Honey Sprinkler or Bear Bee, and Golden can be triggered by a Dragonfly pet.

Some are limited to special events, such as Heavenly during a developer-triggered Floating Jandel event or Starised during a rare space event. Dawnbound is unique to sunflowers and usually requires a Sun God ritual with friends, though a pet with the Ascended mutation can trigger it too.

Certain mutations also evolve. Amber turns into Old Amber after 24 hours, then Ancient Amber a few days later—each stage being more valuable. Combo mutations also exist, like Clay (Wet + Sandy), Frozen (Wet + Chilled), and Tempestuous (a rare storm combo). Learning these combinations helps you get the highest-value crops during overlapping events.

All Pet Mutations in Grow a Garden

Pets in Grow a Garden can also undergo mutations, which permanently give them special traits or boosts.

You can mutate a pet by using the Mutation Machine on a level 50+ pet (this costs 500 million Sheckles and takes 1 hour per mutation). The outcome is random, and each pet mutation has a different rarity.

There are currently 12 pet mutations available (as of the latest update), listed in the table below.

We include what each mutation does (its effect on the pet or nearby crops) and roughly how rare it is (the chance of getting it from the machine):

Shiny and Inverted are the most common pet mutations. Both increase how fast a pet gains experience, which helps it level up quickly and earn more coins passively.

Some pet mutations affect crops nearby.

For example, Windy can randomly apply Windstruck to fruits, Frozen can cause Frozen mutations, and Shocked draws lightning during storms to apply the high-value Shocked mutation. The rarest, Ascended, gives nearby crops the powerful Dawnbound mutation every few hours.

Other mutations change the pet itself. Tiny pets are smaller and eat less, while Mega pets are huge but need more food. Both gain extra XP over time. Iron Skin helps protect crops from being stolen, and Radiant makes crops grow faster by emitting a burst of sunshine.

To get a mutation, raise a pet to level 50 and place it in the Mutation Machine. Results are random, some mutations are common, while rare ones like Ascended require many attempts and a lot of currency.

Each pet can only have one mutation at a time. If you mutate a pet again, the new mutation replaces the old one, and the pet resets to level 1. Choose wisely and plan your mutations for long-term farming benefits.

How Mutation Multipliers Work

Each mutation in Grow a Garden increases your crop’s value by a certain multiplier.

For example:

Stacking Multiple Mutations

  • Chilled (2×) + Bloodlit (4×) = around 6×
  • Golden (20×) + Chilled (2×) + Bloodlit (4×) = around 100×

Golden or Rainbow replace the base 1× value and other mutations add on top (with slight adjustments in formula).

Special Rules to Know

  • Golden and Rainbow can’t be combined
    You get one or the other as your “growth mutation”.

  • Some mutations fuse into one stronger one
    For example:

    • Wet + Chilled = Frozen (10×)

    • Verdant + Sundried = Paradisal (100×)

  • Some combos are blocked

    • Ceramic crops can’t also be Burnt.

    • You can’t force two exclusive effects at once.

  • Admin-only mutations (like Voidtouched or Disco) can stack with others and boost the value even more.

Highest Possible Multiplier?

  • Theoretically, crops with dozens of stacked mutations can reach over ×80,000.

  • Realistically, players often get 3–5 mutations during special weather—enough for massive profits like 500× to 1,000×.

  • Stacking is the secret to huge earnings, which is why rare mutations during events are so valuable.

By understanding how these multipliers work and which mutations can combine or override others, you can aim for the most profitable crops and sell them for millions.

Tips for Getting Mutations and the Best Ones

Mutations may feel random, but you can increase your chances with smart strategies:

1. Watch the Weather

  • Different weather conditions trigger specific mutations.

  • Blood Moon = Bloodlit, Thunderstorm = Shocked, Tornado = Twisted, etc.

  • Plant high-value crops before special weather hits to boost mutation odds.

2. Use the Right Pets

  • Some pets apply mutations:

    • Dragonfly = Golden,

    • Butterfly = Rainbow,

    • Bees = Pollinated,

    • Polar Bear = Chilled/Frozen,

    • Chicken Zombie = Zombified, etc.

  • Level pets to 50 and mutate them for stronger effects like Ascended or Shocked.

3. Equip Helpful Tools

  • Use sprinklers (for Wet, Honey Glazed) and sprays (like Burnt, Pollinated, Shocked) to force mutations.

  • Friendship Pot with active friends can create Friendbound mutation (70×).
