Warzone: Rebirth Island isn’t just a remake of ‘Alcatraz,’ said Treyarch

Back in April 2019, Activision launched the second map for Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Blackout. The name of the map was Alcatraz, and it was set around a prison on Alcatraz Island. It featured 10 teams of 4 players each, and the players were deployed in random locations across the map. Players could reenter the map after dying after set countdown periods, up until the final collapse.

Beginning from 16th December 2020, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Cold War will be closely integrated with each other. The supposed season 7 of Warzone will actually be Season 1, to maintain continuity with the other two games.

Call Of Duty Warzone will also feature a new map called Rebirth Island. While it is easy to draw parallels between this new mode and Alcatraz, developers have assured us that this is simply not true. Rebirth Island was constructed by going back to the Black Ops Lore and finding out the origins of Nova 6 gas. The Nova 6 factory present in this map originally featured in Call of Duty Black Ops 1. It was used by Soviet Scientists to establish a bio-weapons program producing the Nova 6 gas during the Cold War era.

Updates to GULAG –

Rebirth Island also features a new version of Gulag. When players die from the main map, they will now find themselves strapped to a chair. Players need to free themselves and then enter into the already acquainted 1v1 combat hurdle to respawn. Players who lose in this round are eliminated as usual.

Additionally, with the Season 1 update, the Verdansk map will have a revamped Gulag as well. The new version is very similar to the beloved Nuketown map. The only changes with Nuketown are the blocked backyard area, closed buildings, and a Soviet makeover to everything. The 1v1 showdown will occur near the central area.

We can safely say that the developers are working hard to integrate the 3 titles. It will benefit the players directly, as leveling up will be the same for all 3 titles. The new map promises fast-paced and action-packed games, exactly what the players demand. We hope Activision will continue delivering
